Voting groups are useful for any organization that has more than one membership category, like K-12 schools or universities. Voters will only see the questions they're allowed to vote on, so you can include all your questions on one ballot.
The Voting Groups feature is used to assign a voter to a group and assign specific groups to certain questions on a ballot.
Once a vote begins, a voter's group cannot be changed. However, you can Spoil the voter's ballot with the incorrect group, and Re-add them to the voter list with the correct group.
Voting Groups Example
Say you are running a vote for a Grade 10-12 High School vote. The vote has four positions up for election:
School President - All students vote on this position.
Grade 10 Representative - Only grade 10 students vote on this position.
Grade 11 Representative - Only grade 11 students vote on this position.
Grade 12 Representative - Only grade 12 students vote on this position.
These can all be run on one ballot (as one vote) using Voting Groups. This would be set up as follows.
Voting Groups Setup
Go to the Voters Page
From the Voter Options at the top of the page, choose "Voting Groups"
Under Voter Information. Choose how you'd like to create your voter list.
The voter list table will contain a column titled "Groups". This is where you assign your voters to groups. For this High School example, the students have been grouped below.
Under the "Group Settings" section. The Question Title of the ballot questions will be listed. Assign the voters' groups to each question, based on which ones the voters are allowed to vote on. For the High School Election, the groups have been assigned to the ballot positions as follows
School President - All students are allowed to vote so all groups have been assigned to that question.
Grade 10 Representative - Only grade 10 students are allowed to vote, so only the "Grade 10" group has been assigned to that question.
Grade 11 Representative - Only grade 11 students are allowed to vote, so only the "Grade 11" group has been assigned to that question.
Grade 12 Representative - Only grade 11 students are allowed to vote, so only the "Grade 12" group has been assigned to that question.

Validating Your Voter List. If you make a change to the voter list you will need to reassign the Voting Group question. Double-check your Voting Groups anytime you touch your Voter List to ensure ballot questions are still correctly assigned to the groups.
Preview Ballot by Voting Group
To Preview your Ballot by a specific Voting Group, select “View Ballot By Voting Group” under “Group Settings”.
On the following screen, choose the Voting Group you’d like to preview from the dropdown menu. When you are finished previewing, select “Close Preview” to return to your vote.
