Setting Quorum and Winners Threshold

Set a quorum for all ballot questions and the winning threshold for each ballot question. Quorum is a specific number of voters, typically defined in bylaws, needed for the vote to be valid. The winning threshold is the minimum share of the vote that a candidate or question needs before they can be determined a winner.

Setting Winner Threshold

Setting the Winning Threshold is available for questions on the ballot that use either Plurality or Cumulative as the voting system. Three options are available to choose for how a winner is determined:

  • Declare any choice a winner - any candidate can be declared a winner with the ability to customize the winner threshold by number of voters, percentage, or number of votes.

  • Winner not declared - This option allows the results to be presented without identifying the winning choice(s)

  • Approve or reject 1 choice - approve or reject a single option. Typically used for approvals or motion voting. For example, a “Yes/No” question where “Yes” must receive 2/3rds of the voters who vote.

Questions that use a voting system other than Plurality and Cumulative will be grayed out.

Select the “Back” button in the left-hand corner to save your settings and continue editing the ballot.

You can review the Quorum and Threshold Winners settings from the Ballot Question.

Changing Quorum and Winner Threshold in a Vote

When the vote is Ready, Running or Completed, edit Quorum and Winner Threshold from the Actions drop-down menu by selecting “Quorum and Threshold Winners”. This will take you to the “Quorum and Winners” screen.
